North American potash inventories fell nearly 9% in August at the producer level but were still one-third larger than the five-year average, Potash (POT) reports. Miners are sitting on large stockpiles due to reduced demand from India, the world's no. 2 potash buyer. POT is lowering its surplus a bit by shutting down its Lanigan mine in Saskatchewan for nearly a month.
