Japan's Nidec (NJ) is considering buying two two small unlisted U.S. industrial motor companies, Illinois-based Kinetek and Ohio-based Avtron Industrial Automation, for about $500M, taking advantage of the strong yen to diversify away from its core hard-disk-drive motor business. The deals could happen as early as this year, with Nidec funding the acquisitions with cash on hand and bank loans.
