Transocean (RIG) is awarded 10-year contracts for four newbuild ultra-deepwater drillships by Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A), contributing an estimated revenue backlog of $7.6B. Shipyard delivery for the first drillship is scheduled for mid-2015. RIG -0.8% premarket.

    Terrific contract. 10 year term means the 2nd 5 years is all profit after opex. Hopefully, they can retask the Brazil rigs quickly or get a higher court injunction to get rid of the ban injunction. That is the stupidest political theater I have seen with this Frade spill.
