Market recap: Stocks sank in late trading, as weak financial stocks more than offset a rise in oil prices and energy stocks. Increasing speculation that the Fed will begin quantitative easing pressured banks and sent the dollar lower, which in turn boosted prices of gold - which closed at a record $1,310/ounce - and commodities. On the NYSE, advancers led decliners seven to six.

Good catch! Nintendo really got roughed up today, down 9%.

Smartphones may actually replace hand-held gaming devices.

The next console upgrade cycle is god knows how many years away.

Today the market pressed pause awaiting meatier data to chew on. On Thursday we get served with final Q2 GDP, Jobless Claims and a Bernanke speech. Follow that up on Friday with another triple header which includes Personal Income & Outlays, Consumer Sentiment, and ISM Manufacturing. Things will get more interesting when investors react to this info.
