The unemployment rate unexpectedly jumps to 5.4% from 5.1%, thanks to a 0.2 percentage point increase in the labor force participation rate to 65.2%. Focusing on the job gains, the aussie shoots 40 pips higher to $1.0264. Shares in Sydney cut their losses, now -0.3%.
