Yahoo's (YHOO) hiring of senior Google sales exec Henrique de Castro as COO didn't come cheap: his total compensation could reach $56M over the next 4 years. The hiring of de Castro, who appears to have mixed reviews from former co-workers - his intelligence seems to be rated more highly than his people skills - could lead to the departure of chief revenue officer Michael Barrett, who was hired by Ross Levinsohn. It is clear to me that the success of Yahoo is becoming almost completely dependent on the new CEO and her ability to select the right people to run the Company. I want to know more about her individual performance at Google including successes, mistakes and most importantly her ability to adapt to changing market conditions.

Bill Rigney, a former major league manager once told me the key to being a successful manger is to know the strengths and weaknesses of your players and not to put him in a situation where you know he does not have the skill or experience to be successful. I believe Marrisa is attempting to assemble a team she knows has the skills to accomplish the vision she has for this company. I believe you have to have confidence in the team you select and give them the freedom to do the job. If you do not have confidence in a person to do the job he/she should not be working for you. The same goes for people who invest in a business. If you think the companies officials do not have the skill or experience to lead the company forward don't invest your money in that company. I happen to believe Marissa is the right person to lead Yahoo forward and I have invested my money in Yahoo! for the long term.
