"Citigroup (C) is the incredible shrinking bank," writes Meredith Whitney following the Pandit departure. No CEO will be able to change this in the near-term, she says, adding the board's selection of insider Mike Corbat means it feels the same way.

Meredith Whitney who!. She has no credibility, after she told investors to get out of the municipals because they were going to crash.
Even when she was called out on it a year later she still insisted that municipal were going to crash. I am surprised that Seeking Alpha still cares what she has to say. By quoting her you too lose credibility.

What's wrong with getting rid of assets that don't fit the business plan?
This increases capital ratios and will allow the bank to pay dividends sooner. Looking at total assets is the old 80's savings and loan idea. EPS and dividends is what I want.

I'm a retired Social Worker. i bought Citi group because Bob Rubinwas on the board but he was a better sec. of treasury than a board member. I'm sorry to see V. Pandit leave just as Citi was moving up.
