Juniper (JNPR +3.8%) outperforms ahead of its Oct. 23 Q3 report after Morgan Stanley predicts Q4 guidance will be strong: the firm expects Verizon will continue deploying Juniper's costly PTX Ethernet switches and T4000 routers, and that AT&T will buy more MX-series edge routers (previous). Verizon and AT&T's muted capex (particularly for wireline networks) has dinged the shares of many telecom equipment names. MKM is taking a more guarded view of Juniper, predicting Q4 guidance will be light due to weak industry capex.
