500M share buyback sounds so much smaller than $19 billion buyback. I just wish they could do this at a P/E of 10 instead of near 20.

Blackbeard, I agree on the valuation of the buyback. It seems that companies do buybacks when they have extra cash, but that usually is when business is good and valuations are at a premium. Warren Buffett has a buyback policy that they buyback when P/B is right around 1, ensuring they don't waste money by overpaying.

This will hedge any risk in purchasing (to the extent a Company can extinguish risk) and prevent large drops in price. But for us old folks that have a lot of shares, we own this stock to just sit around and wait for our quarterly dividend check- ho hum, boring and steady stock, but I sure do like pay day..

Hope to join you on big dividend pay day down the road. Just started acquiring modest amounts in ROTH IRA. I'm 24 and hoping time will smile down on this investment.

Golden, I wish I had started when I was 24. I waited until about 30 to get serious. Best of luck, and KO has been one of the best so far.

I started when I was 27 and it took me 10 years to figure out that slow and steady wins. I was in the wrong stocks back then and should have been in the companies that was right under my nose and eyes day in and day out.
