J.D. Power suggests that battery-powered vehicles about to take to the highway are "overhyped" and headed for a much slower takeoff than expected. The study says sales of hybrid cars such as Toyota (TM) Prius and all-electric models like the Nissan (NSANY.PK) Leaf won't make up more than a small slice of the global market even by 2020.

I think this JD power opinion is pretty much a no-brainer. But there are a number of environmental-minded people who have bought into the hype all the way. Obama is just one such person. The size of the capital investment and the ability of that company to withstand that investment falling flat should be used in determining who might represent the best short. At this time, my best short will be GM once they trade publicly.
