Dell (DELL) has decided to join Oracle, IBM, and (reportedly) H-P in developing an integrated (and expensive) server/storage/networking box. The company claims its new Active System line stands out from the crowd through its use of industry-standard hardware that keeps costs keep down, and through management software that lowers installation times and automates basic tasks. Though Dell's PC business is having a very rough time, its server business has been gaining share.
