More on Caterpillar (CAT) Q3 earnings: There's no sugarcoating from the company in what may turn out to be its "kitchen sink" quarter of the cycle. "Our sales will probably remain relatively weak in early 2013 ... While there's reason for optimism ... we are prepared and stand ready to take action no matter what happens to the global economy." Maybe it's all baked in - shares off just 0.7% premarket. (earnings call webcast is at 11 ET)

As one of the rats in the maze chasing the government cheese, this does fit the pattern, doesn't it? Weak revenue...

(I was tempted to write "weak earnings," but these guys always find a way to best the earnings of the prior quarter)

...means QE infinity will be kicked up a few notches, perhaps 90 billion will do it, and more pressure for another stimulus, this time with government purchases of CAT preferred shares.

    And the bull runs on.

CAT is a very cheap stock at this price. If you believe that the USA will ever rebuild its infrastructure or if you believe that homebuilders will be building new homes, especially new subdivisions and apartment complexes, then you know that CAT will benefit. Equipment is old and out-dated.
Companies that know how to beat earnings and have the cash to do so, will reward long-term investors who can wait.

Yup. Both CAT and CMI, initially red this morning, are popping now.
