As Governor Mitt Romney rises in the polls, industry insiders say the odds for legislation making online gambling legal in some form trail off. Though Romney hasn't been specific, his comment that he wants to make the Internet "family-friendly" is viewed as an indication he opposes opening up online play for cash. In the meantime, most gaming firms have been aggressively hedging their bets with forays into social gaming and non-cash playing options as they plan for the eventuality of Internet gambling.
