BHP Billiton (BHP -2.7%) reportedly is exploring a sale of its Pinto Valley copper mine in Arizona, as it seeks to streamline its portfolio of assets amid a weaker outlook for commodities prices. Pinto Valley could produce ~$300M in annual earnings if it were running at full tilt, but with a limited mine life and uncertainty about whether it will return to full production, some analysts think it might fetch less than $1B.
