BP asks a federal judge to disregard objections from a fraction of claimants and give final approval to a proposed $7.8B settlement for economic damages from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Fewer than 1,000 claimants have formally opted out of the deal so far, BP says, and the objectors represent "only a small fraction of the total class members."
