Retail sales in Canada rose a sluggish 0.3% in August with higher gas prices contributing a good portion of the smaller-than-forecast rise. The sharpest drop by sector was the 3.1% decline in sales by miscellaneous retailers, a group which includes merchandisers, office supplies stores, and pet supplies stores.
