Gazprom and Serbia’s state gas utility say they will invest ~$2.2B into building the 470-km Serbian section of the South Stream pipeline. The project, designed to transport natural gas from Russia through the Black Sea to eastern and central Europe, is seen as a rival to BP's Nabucco pipeline, which plans to ship Caspian gas to Europe via Turkey.
