The current assumption Research In Motion (RIMM) will move 10M BlackBerry PlayBooks next year is too optimistic, says Susquehanna. Demand will soften given all the tablet computer models due for release. But Toronto-based Sun Life Financial (SLF) has already ordered 1K PlayBooks.

  • When it comes to RIMM I have no doubt in the viability of Playbook, where I'm concerned is when RIMM will bring out a really high powered smartphone device, they are the only big player without a seriously powerful CPU in any device. They are going to get creamed if they don't remedy that ASAP.

  • Based on the speed claims being made for the PlayBook (faster than a speeding iPad), RIMM just has to put that processor into a smartphone. They can't be (shouldn't be) too far away from having that ready (?)

  • And they should put it in the device that won their sponsored project at the Art Center College of Design, heh.
