Nuclear power plants in the eastern U.S. appeared to pass the readiness test presented by Hurricane Sandy, as three New York-area reactors were safely shut and a fourth - Exelon's (EXC) Oyster Creek - remains on alert due to water intake problems. EXC says there was “no challenge to plant safety equipment and no threat to the public health or safety."
