Navistar (NAV +1.4%) says it plans to close down its truck-manufacturing operation in Garland, Texas, as it seeks to lower costs and optimize its manufacturing footprint. The facility, which has about 900 workers, is scheduled to cease operations by the first half of next year.

    Trucks as freight carriers are pretty primitive. When will someone build a better truck? Navistar seems to plod.
