Dell's (DELL +1.9%) offer to buy Compellent (CML -0.2%) at an 18% discount to its prevailing share price was a "rare and surprising" move, says Frank Voisin. But a purchase offer is based on future earnings estimates, and this is Compellent's first year of profitability. Compellent "shareholders should be happy."
