Netflix (NFLX) is still the dominant paid online video provider in North America, according to a ChangeWave survey done in September, but Amazon (AMZN) is gaining ground. 82% of respondents watching a paid video service said they use Netflix, down slightly from February's 84%, while 22% said they use Amazon, up from February's 17% and June 2011's 8%. Amazon has been rapidly adding content to Prime Instant Video's library, but (as is its custom) hasn't provided subscriber or usage data.

Statistical sillyness. Of what candidate group of people do 80+% have Netflix?

It's plausible Amazon's growth rate in usage is quite high given how new it is but the relative proportion to Netflix is unlikely to be what is implied here.

I completely agree. These stats are bogus. BUT I'm happy to have the positive going to NFLX!

80% o f people who watch paid online video (as it states in the blurb).

"82% of respondents watching a paid video service said they use Netflix"

That's a far cry from 82% of people watching Netflix.

Amazon Prime doesn't work outside of the US but Netflix does! There must be a huge potential South American market. I live in the Caribbean and purchased Prime for free shipping (send the shopping to Mailpac US address then they ship to me). Im still evaluating if I will renew just for the free shipping but if I could get movies I would certainly keep Amazon Prime and cancel My Netflix subscription.
