Merger talk between American Airlines (AAMRQ.PK) and US Airways (LCC -0.2%) will heat up this month, according to the Dallas Morning News. Sources say US Airways could be close to making a formal offer shortly with the benefits of the deal for both carriers slowly starting to crystalize.

    It is interesting that in the previous LBO that the pilots rejected, a "gag-order" would have prevented them from protesting any executive compensation/bonus package after exiting BK that AMR would have proposed to the judge. That "gag-order" is supposedly not in the agreement currently being negotiated between AMR & APA...has Horton seen the writting on the wall and knows he won't survive the merger?
