Given whispers that Apple (AAPL) is ordering up to 65M iPad screens, one must wonder if the device's dominance is "overblown," according to StreetInsider.com. A half-dozen rivals will soon be fielding tablet computers of all sizes and types. "Consumers are hungry for a tablet that fits their lifestyle, and it can sometimes get lonely at the top."

I don't know if the rumor about 65 million screens is legitimate but I do know that every one I know who has purchased an iPad is very happy with it. If word of mouth is important then Apple has a big lead on the competition.

I don't think its overblown at all. While that number seems large, thats only 5 million a month worldwide (yeah big, but the world is huge), apple can build these devices cheaper than anyone else because of the economy of scale, and they will lower the price while adding new features (possibly as early as feb)... All of the analysts and Apple's projects don't believe Apple will keep a high share of the market, they only need to keep some of the expanding market to hit these numbers... and they will.
