Gazprom says it is poised to finalize terms for its $20.5B South Stream pipeline, which will run beneath the Black Sea from Russia into southeast Europe and is designed to make its natural gas deliveries more reliable. Some critics say South Stream, which aims to be operational in 2015 with a capacity of ~14% of EU gas consumption, will hand Russia even more influence over Europe's energy supplies.

Gazprom should diversify and focus on China and LNG investments. I have always liked Gazprom for the high returns to shareholders,Efficiency and Long term strategic outlook. But it needs to refocus on China and Asia instead of Europe. Europe is transforming into a bunch of economically failed states and China is on the rise.
