VirnetX (VHC -1.7%) is filing another lawsuit against Apple (AAPL). The company claims Apple's latest iOS and Mac hardware infringes four VirnetX patents that were asserted in a Texas suit that ended with a favorable verdict earlier this week. Apple doesn't sound as if it's inclined to settle this legal battle quickly.

  • if the USPTO rejected all claims against apple, i believe this info would have had trading suspended pending info. this sounds like the "shorts" have started a rumor.

  • i've checked the short position and find that over 35% of the VHC stock is short. in addition the judge handling the lawsuit against apple has ordered apple to inform the court of the amount of money they've made on the patent violations. this doesn't sound like the U.S. patent office has dismissed anything. i could be wrong, but be advised some blogs out there indicate apple will buy out VHC to settle these lawsuits. they (VHC) already won a 200 million dollar lawsuit against microsoft and a couple of other companies have alsettled with VHC over the patents. caveat emptor.
