Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD have each unveiled new graphics accelerators aimed at the high-performance computing (HPC) market. Nvidia claims its K20X accelerators can deliver a 10x or greater performance gain for servers running Intel Sandy Bridge Xeon CPUs, and that over 200 apps are now supported. Analyst Dan Olds points out Nvidia's developer ecosystem has helped it open a big lead in the HPC space. Intel (INTC) is hoping to gain ground with its new Xeon Phi line.
