U.S. carriers are doing what they can to try to give Windows Phone (MSFT) a mass following. Verizon Wireless (VZ) says it will offer a Windows Phone model for free with contract by year's end, but doesn't say from whom. Big Red currently offers HTC's high-end 8X for $199, and Nokia's (NOK) mid-range Lumia 822 for $99. Sprint (S), meanwhile, promises to introduce WP models next year.

I'm glad to see that Sprint will also get into the game. It was hard bragging on my Windows Phone to my friends on Sprint. :)

I've been waiting to get a 920 but on Verizon, there were rumors about a Verizon 922. Decided to try an 822 with my current Vzn plan but it's $99! AT&T has the 829 for $49. bummer

It looks like ATT got an amazingly good deal from NOK. The phones are almost twice as expensive over here.

Something is working. My wife's yellow Lumia 920 is backordered on AT&T (even though I pre-ordered.) Demand probably isn't that of AAPL and GOOG, but this is a positive sign.

I pre-ordered and am still waiting as well. It's a great deal and the free wireless charger seems to have persuaded a lot of people to pre-order. Hopefully this means demand is solid.

I was promised a free charger even though I didn't pre-order, had the store order for me day after release. Either demand is solid (hopeful) or AT&T is incompetent (probably... and unfortunate that I'm agreeing to yet another 2 years with this poorly managed company).

When I say poorly managed I dont mean the top execs, I mean on the ground where customer meets sales rep.
