Rock-Tenn (RKT) is buying larger rival Smurfit-Stone (SSCC) for $35/share, or $3.5B, just seven months after Smurfit emerged from bankruptcy. The deal makes Rock-Tenn the No. 2 containerboard producer in North America with annual revenue of more than $9B.
