Market recap: Stock losses again accelerated down the stretch, this time pressured by a debate over the future of Fed stimulus, ongoing fiscal cliff concerns and rising Middle East tensions. The S&P 500 slipped well below its 200-day MA, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq extended its slide into correction territory. Crude oil climbed 1.1% after Israel's airstrike in Gaza. NYSE losers led gainers nearly four to one.

Not buying yet. I expect this to be like the debt ceiling debacle when the correction was about 20%. We are only about half way there. But watching very closely my favorite stocks. Some cheap good stocks just got cheaper. It's like when you decide to finally buy this new gadget that you've been eyeing for some time and they suddenly drop the price.

What's a cheap stock? A valuation based on today's knowledge has little weight further down the timeline. Cheap it can only be if based on your premise of a recovery, given that US stock indices are still close to all time highs. Since I expect fiscal reality in the US and globally to hit home hard - if not now then at some later point, everything looks completely overpriced to me.

I am not sure why investment grade preferreds are taking a beating, except for the idea that Dems will exert nasty pressure through their union thugs (recall elections), the Race Card and Big Education to close down debate.

Those folks may be reading lots of Lenin, Alinsky and Hitler as their role models to implement univision government.
