Jefferies' talks with cable industry contacts indicate at least one major North American cable provider is trying to "estimate how much additional capacity may be needed" to handle an Apple (AAPL) device. This leads it to think an Apple TV could be on the way, something it considers a positive for Arris (ARRS). One note of caution: the analyst in question, James Kisner, doesn't formally cover Apple. Peter Misek, the Jefferies analyst who does, has been speculating for a while about an Apple set. (more)

IPTV is eventually on the way. IBM and T joined at the hip. Farther out this will be lucrative for AAPL's ECO system. T.V.'s are a 5 to 7 yr. cycle though.

While I expect a 46 inch-60 inch Retina display TV, everyone who thinks that the display is coming soon has not been paying attention to the technical issues that still needto be resolved (but will eventually be). Apple's Apple TV BOX is a wireless HUB for all iOS devices into any TV screen. The hardware issue is already capable, cheap and easy to produce. The current "box" is almost good enough. Apple will release that same box with the newest iPad processor ASAP they can make a deal with any company that gets them access to live TV. As it is, I think Apple is crazy not to have released an upgrade to the current $99 box with the new iPad processor as TV is moving very fast to the internet already. They could sell a lot this Christmas if they had that product. Profit on that box is unimportant. Giving access for all iOS devices to automatically broadcast to your existing flat screen TV will sell a lot of phones, iPads , the big iPod, and Mac's. We need an Apple intelligent remote control that idiot proof operates all of our existing TV related devices and to do that all Apple has to do is write the software for our iOS devices. Apple TV is here. An outstanding one is only a contract away.
