The Senate yesterday confirmed the well-respected Martin Gruenberg as chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp and Thomas Hoenig as his deputy. Gruenberg was vice chairman under former FDIC chief Sheila Bair and has played a big role in implementing the Dodd-Frank reforms. Hoenig is former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and supports breaking up the biggest banks.
