Contagion to Saudia Arabia or China would be the ultimate shocker.

Contagion is just another word for a house of cards built on ponzi leverage. If your risk appetite is limited, search out large cap, dividend paying companies with strong balance sheets and growth prospects. Likewise, the short term bonds of these companies should provide capital preservation. Then hold on. It's bound to be a rocky road.
