Texas Public Power Pool (P-3) has selected Constellation NewEnergy, a subsidiary of Exelon (EXC) to supply its customers with 2.7M megawatt- hours of low-cost electricity following a competitive bidding process. P3 is one of the largest electricity aggregators in Texas, purchasing power for approximately 69 local governments and public entities. The three-year agreement will begin in 2014, and provides a commodity supply rate 31% lower than P-3's current contract.

I really don't know. Hopefully EXC isn't underbidding the contract which would be detrimental to their bottom line?

  • It shows that they are competitive in getting new business. I doubt that they are losing money on the deal, their pencil pushers are experts in setting rates and making bids.
