Might the TVIX be delisted soon? The leveraged short-term VIX ETN broke the buck morning after losing 97% of its value YTD. Volatility ETNs are essentially designed to hit zero unless subjected to occasional reverse-splits. The TVIX is the only widely held of the VIX products not to get one this fall, suggesting its manager cannot figure out how to track the index properly and wants it to go away.

  • This is a scam especially if you are looking for TVIX and UVXY. Now shorting is also not worth it.

  • It's not a scam, as noted it is designed to do what it does.
That said, its junk. It should be reverse split, as of now its useless long or short.

  • Actually, TVIX is only an ETN, which is essentially a promissory note backed by Credit Suisse. Rather than have the liability if the VIX goes parabolic next spring, they may choose to eliiminate the risk.

  • Since about a month before the election I have making money with TVIX on short term fiscal cliff and tax the rich trades. A nice pre Christmas optimism has seized the SP since the newly reelected President met with Boehner, Pelosi etc., but will it last in the tough talks to come? TVIX is not for holding for long stretches, but if the tax, spend, and debt arguments in DC get mean again, TVIX may still be productive for short term plays on politically induced market swings.

  • We could have a nuclear war and the destruction of all life on earth and STILL TVIX wouldnt get back up to 30-40.

TVIX is useless. UVXY does what it does and is $20, lots easier for short/long without inefficiencies of playing a 'penny stock' price.
