The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force released an updated draft recommendation on HIV screening yesterday, with a recommendation for general screening of the 15 - 65 year old population. The recommendation is a significant expansion of it's previous position, which suggested screening only those at risk for HIV. The release gave a boost to Orasure (OSUR +1.4%) today, whose OraQuick Advance is the only FDA-approved rapid point-of-care test that can detect antibodies to both HIV-1 and HIV-2 in just 20 minutes.
