The NYT does some more digging into the wealth built up by the family of outgoing Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and finds that they benefited massively from the survival of Ping An Insurance in 1999 during the Asian financial crisis. Wen, as vice premier at the time, may have been involved in saving the group. Still, the NYT finds no indication that any law was broken, nor that he held Ping An shares under his name.
