It's going to continue to be a landlord's market in apartment rentals, according to the NAR, which is projecting the vacancy rate to remain nearly steady at around 4% over the next year. This should allow rents to be increased by 4.6% in 2013 compared to 4.1% this year. Two of the larger plays in the sector have given up big H1 gains, and are now red on the year. AVB -2.1%, EQR -5.3%.
