Data warehousing plays Teradata (TDC -3.5%) and Informatica (INFA -1.8%) are lower after Amazon Web Services (AMZN) announces Redshift, a cloud-based service for analyzing giant data sets. AWS' trademark low pricing (less than $1K/TB/year) is included, as is a promise to deliver huge performance gains and handle a variety of management tasks. Though the devil may be in the details, Redshift is bound to unsettle an industry accustomed to 6 and 7-figure deals. Flipboard, NASA, and Netflix are among the early testers.
