Google (GOOG) has acquired BufferBox, a Canadian startup that provides users with lockers to pick up online purchases, freeing them from having to worry about missed or stolen deliveries. The service has a lot in common with Amazon's (AMZN) lockers, whose reach is starting to expand. Discussing the deal, a Google exec says his company thinks "there’s a real exciting space beyond this amazing start with boxes." Two possibilities: adding BufferBox as an option for Google Offers, and using it to further Google's same-day delivery project.
