Staples (SPLS) is launching a 3D printing service that will allow customers to print objects by uploading files at its office centers. Staples' offerings are the first of their kind from a major retailer, and could heighten the general awareness of a budding market. Staples will be relying on a new printer from Ireland's Mcor, which competes with U.S.-based 3D Systems (DDD) and Stratasys (SSYS). Mcor claims its use of paper, rather than plastic, as a build medium lowers costs and improves color quality.
