For many months close to 1/2 of this payout is return of principle. So it's not a 12% yield, it's more like 5-6% depending on the actual return of capital declared.

What is your source that half the payout is the return of principle?

I've received much of my cash outlay back as well as capital gains at today's price.

How can I verify that PHK's monthly payouts are technically capital gain dividends? My local broker had deducted 30% from the monthly dividends to my non-resident alien account.
