Alibaba claims it has sold RMB1T ($161B) worth of goods this year through November via its Taobao marketplace and Tmall.com retail site - that's up 58% from the RMB632B reported for the whole of 2011, and surpassed Amazon and eBay's combined merchandise volume. Alibaba now accounts for a whopping 60% of all delivered Chinese packages - like eBay, it typically takes a cut on transaction sales, rather than handling them itself. Yahoo (YHOO) still owns 23% of Alibaba.
