Nokia Siemens (NOK, SI) continues to shed non-core assets as part of its downsizing. The latest is its business support systems unit, which it has agreed to sell to telecom billing software firm Redknee for €15 ($19.6M) + €25M ($32.7M) in performance-based payouts. NSN announced a deal to sell its optical networking business earlier this week. (previous)

Sometimes parting a car out makes more for you than selling the whole that nobody wanted. That might not be what they're doing here but a lot of small pieces have been dropping off.

That's one thing I like about Elop's plan. KISS- keep it simple stupid.
It also eliminates alot of private intercorporate kingdoms within Nokia. It's a builders plan.

    Long Nokia

Why should Nokia be purchased by Microsoft? Maybe a few months ago that was still a possibility, but now that it becomes more and more clear that Nokia's future is very bright the chance that they will be purchased by another firm is highly unlikely.
