Intel (INTC) has a dedicated salesperson for each of its "big four" cloud customers - Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Microsoft - says its server CPU chief. The big four develop their own Intel-based servers, and their preference for cheap, low-power, densely-packed hardware means they often use lower-margin CPUs than many enterprise clients - that's a big reason server industry revenue is declining, and the collective share of top-5 vendors slumping. But Intel is better off addressing this market than seeing cloud clients turn to AMD's SeaMicro unit or ARM-based CPUs.
