AK Steel (AKS -0.2%) increases current spot market base prices for all carbon flat-rolled steel products by $30/ton, effective immediately with new orders. Platts spot prices have jumped 10% to $644/ton from $580 in mid-October, sparked by the strong U.S. auto market, periodic shortages related to mill outages, and high demand in local markets such as shale regions in need of steel drilling pipe.

They seem very prompt on announcing the increases, but over time the price has decreased, so where are the announcements of decreases?

I sense a lack of symmetry.
