Some analysts see Berkshire Hathaway’s (BRK.A -1.2%) $9B acquisition of Lubrizol (LZ) as inciting similar deals, but only one stock has surged: NewMarket (NEU +11.7%), seen as one of Lubrizol’s closest competitors. Lubrizol corp. is currently under investigation, meaning the deal itself may be annulled. The company's board is accused of having breached their fiduciary duties towards their share holders [as it appears that they didn't "shop around" for other buyers before they settled for Berkshire Hathaway's mediocre bid. Let's be honest, Buffett was taking over the company at a bargain 135$/share. Some analysts' projections suggest the stock may be worth as much as 148$/share this time next year. I am not so optimistic [given the information available to me], but I do believe the company has been undervalued in this transaction.
