5 days after Qualcomm (QCOM) announced its entry into the NFC chip market, Broadcom (BRCM) is rolling out a combo chip that supports NFC to go with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FM radio, as well as a product that pairs existing NFC and combo chips. Broadcom's dominant combo chip position could make its offerings a major competitive threat to NFC leader NXP (NXPI). Separately, Broadcom has announced its automotive Ethernet chips have met industry qualifications.
