Looking for ways to halt share losses to AT&T and Verizon, MetroPCS (PCS) and Leap Wireless (LEAP) are now providing financing options for prepaid phone purchases. A Leap exec claims the program could allow a customer to walk out of a store with an iPhone 5, which it sells for $500 without contract, after paying only $105. MetroPCS merger partner T-Mobile USA recently said it would end phone subsidies, but offer installment plans for purchases.
