Tobacco stocks trade weak as a group with speculation on anti-tobacco measures sweeping across Europe. The word from across the pond is that the EU will step up health warnings. Decliners: Reynolds American (RAI -2.2%), Altria (MO -1.6%), Lorillard (LO -2.6%).

Lorillard sells tobacco products in the U. S. only. The stock is being dragged down with the rest of the group. I suppose investor could worry that the U.S. will follow the EU regulatory sentiment.

LO directors just announced a 3-for-1 stock split effective January 15, 2013.

OTOH, PM is down, as you might expect, but BTI is up slightly. Overall, odd.

Buy, buy, buy! MO will pay their dividend of # 0.44 per share, but you must own it NLT 26DEC2012.

MO is US only too, but I'm sure they'll all suffer some until they sort it all out. Never really sorted out with this group, but they are worth owning.
